2 CRPF Soldiers Killed IN Militant Attack in Manipur

The 2nd IRB post at Naransena in Bishnupur district in Manipur was attacked with a bomb by unidentified people. In which 2 CRPF soldiers died and 2 are injured. 

Militants attacked the security forces camp around 1:15-1:20 am. The area is being cordoned off and sanitization work is going on.

Police said the attack on CRPF in Manipur's Naransena area started at midnight on Friday. Kuki militants attacked from midnight to 2:15 am in the morning. 

The soldiers who lost their lives belong to CRPF 128 battalion deployed in Naransena area of ​​Bishnupur district of the state.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Electoral Officer, Pradip Kumar Jha on Friday reported high turnout and minimal incidents of violence in Outer Manipur in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Manipur's Chief Electoral Officer said, "Till the last report we received about an hour ago, the voting percentage was between 75 per cent and no major irregularities were reported."

He also said that during the second phase of voting, people came out in large numbers to exercise their franchise. One incident of electronic voting machine (EVM) malfunction was reported at a polling station and no major malfunction was reported.

"Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency, there are 13 assembly constituencies, in which voting was peaceful. One incident of damage to EVMs has been reported so far. We are looking into it and contacting all the districts" he said. 

He said that the voting was peaceful. Voting in Outer Manipur constituency was relatively more peaceful as compared to 2019 elections.

"78.78 percent votes were cast. People have come in huge numbers. Compared to previous elections, the elections in outer Manipur have been very peaceful. We are fully hopeful that by late evening today we will have a clear picture. Barring one or two incidents, nothing major It has not happened and the turnout has been very encouraging,” Jha said.
